Areas of School

Image
In St-Chris there are many different areas such as the garden, Tuck shop, Outside the sports hall, form rooms and many more Front Garden In the front garden, as soon as you enter the school, the garden greets you. It's the prettiest place to hang out and enjoy during break times. It has fresh air and beautiful flowers and trees. During the winter time, my friends and I go to the front garden to enjoy our break time. There are many benches and seating areas. Also students from all years come and spend their time there. Tuck Shop The Tuck Shop is probably the most busiest place in the school. Many people go there from all year groups. Once people buy their food there is a sitting area where they go and eat their snacks. Form Room The form room is a place where many of your future classmates might go to enjoy during break. From experience our form room is the best place as most of our classmates come to eat and socialize. Outside Music Ther...

A Day In The Life

Image
A day in the life... My day starts at 6.30 when my alarm goes off. It’s the same time as I got up in Year 6 so I am used to it, but I for many of you it may be much earlier than you get up at the moment! Yawn!! My driver brings my sister and I to school, ( she is in Year 11) and it takes about 20 minutes. Usually I watch videos to relax in the car as I know I will have to be alert and ready when I arrive! By the time time I get to school, some of my friends are already here, so I get a chance to chat to them before my form time starts at 7.50am. The bell rings for the start of form time and this is the time when our form tutor, Mrs Wardle talks to us about the activities taking place that week and things to remember. We also do quizzes once a week in our house teams and on Monday’s we have assembly. Then is the first period of the day. It’s important you reach class before the second bell, so I make sure that I have all of my bags and set off. I can have a big...

Extra Curricular Activities (For Girls)

Image
Extra Curricular Activities (For Girls) There are many extra curricular activities (aka ECA’s) for girls. Some of the ECA’s take place during first break and some are after school. If you normally take a bus to go home, you could take an after school bus if you have an ECA after school. If you usually go home with your own driver, then you will have to inform your driver to pick you up at the right time. If you are doing an ECA during break time in school then usually you change in the girls changing room after your lesson and head to the location that your ECA will be. Some of the different ECA’s for girls are: Baseball, Netball, Volleyball, Athletics and many more to get involved in. If you do decide to do a activity all you need to do is go to the sports hall and use the QR code. The code allows you to sign up online so it’s useful to have a QR code reader on your device.  Or you can sign up during registration by using the bulletin. Sometimes there may be activitie...

Don't Stress!

Now I know everyone says this, but don't stress. Let's cover some things... Big kids aren't mean or scary, in fact they are so kind and nice to us considering we are currently the babies of the school. They will be very friendly and they won't make fun of you. Feel free to ask them where some places are if or when you get lost, they will be very helpful. Now as we just mentioned about getting lost, yes it is very normal to get lost as it a really big school compared to Nadeen. Don't differentiate yourself to St Chris junior students because we are all the same. None of us were used to these kinds of surroundings when we first arrived. It may happen to you but teachers will be nice about it as they know it's your first year so don't worry about that. After the first few months, the rest of the year you will be like experts about the school. Making new friends can be daunting but really not as scary as it seems. You can make new friends in ECA’S, in com...

The Tuck Shop

Image
The tuck shop is the area where you would be able to get food if you don’t bring a Lunch box. How much money to bring? Everyday you should bring a maximum of 1BD because it is better not to bring so much money to school, the most expensive item would be 1BD so there is no point in bringing any more. What do they sell? They have a variety of things to buy, the cold foods can be doughnuts, salads, cheese bread and sausage rolls. There is also warm food which changes over the days. Try to get there early as possible after the bell goes. It is better to arrive at the tuck shop earlier because if you were to arrive early you would be able to get more food, this is because of how once the bell for first break rings, there will be a stampede of people waiting in line for food. Favorites In my opinion, the best food in the tuck shop would be the cold food. I like the sandwiches best. - Bader, Malaika and Pheobe

Homework Tips

Image
Homework   The homework at first can be slightly overwhelming. However, if you follow our simple tips for surviving year 7 homework, life will be a breeze!  First of all, turn on notifications for all homework related apps such as google classroom. Most teachers upload homework here, so you will never lose it but it’s handy if you are notified when something new is put on to remind you. It will also allow you to find and access homework more easily.  Next, do your homework the day you get it. This will help you stay organised and give you lots of spare time for activities. It is tough to fit it in some days, when you start clubs after school, but it really helps to keep on top of it.  Always take breaks in between homework sessions. This decreases you stress levels and allows you to relax. Have something nice to eat when you work. This helps motivate you and keeps your brain working while you do! (Except Ramadan!)  Some of us use an ...
